This lot contains three 12-inch 33 RPM LP's from a four-record set of a radio documentary featuring music by the Doors and interviews with the surviving members of the band (Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore) and a few others (including Alice Cooper and Bill Graham). The documentary is hosted by Los Angeles disc jockey Jim Ladd, and the interviews are introduced collectively under the title "Inner View." Discogs dates the original documentary all the way back to 1979, but recordings of it have since been released in several formats, so I'm unsure whether this particular set dates back that far. The Doors lead singer Jim Morrison, of course, had died in 1971. Some versions of the record set were released under the title "No One Here Gets out Alive." This set appears to be untitled, at least on the labels.
So, as already stated, the set we are offering is incomplete, but it's still a huge amount of content, with each side lasting close to 30 minutes, including commercials. The original radio documentary was four hours long, in four episodes of one hour each, of which we have only three. We have no sleeves or box for them, which, for all we know, is how they were issued, but we don't know for sure - some of the versions came in box sets. The labels are all plain white or off-white (apart from the one that has blue stains on it), with numbers handwritten on the labels and typed on stickers, showing the record number and side, and we've confirmed the content by playing all the records, so we can tell you we don't have record # 1, but we do have records 2, 3 and 4.
The records all look nice and shiny, but with visible surface scuffs and scratches, some of them quite troublesome looking. I played all six sides on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there were varying amounts of background noise, most of it light and unobtrusive, but including some ticking and crackling, as well as multiple forward jumps (but no repeats) on all six sides, Side # 2B probably being the worst in that respect, but I haven't done a detailed count. And when I say "multiple", I mean "a lot", as opposed to "several" or "a few." Because of variations in tracking ability and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment.
They will be shipped in generic paper inner sleeves. Please check the pictures for stains, handwriting or other marks on the labels.
