This show, from Jim Ladd's famous Innerview series, rates among the finest studies of this revolutionary band. Produced in 1978 just prior to the underrated An American Prayer album, the airing of this four-part special was certainly instrumental (along with the excellent Sugarman/Hopkins biography No One Here Gets Out Alive) in the Doors resurgence at the turn of the 1980s. Ladd has compiled dozens of interviews (including all three surviving band members) and weaves the Doors' story splendidly around their music and his insightful yet unobtrusive narration.
