Retains gloss - visual evidence of light use. Surface/hair lines only. Plays extremely well without any jumps or pops. Visually very good. The labels are in excellent condition The sleeve condition is generally good. The front is laminated. There is slight damage to corners (see photos). There is some writing on the front in pen (looks like some type of signature??), but this is quite faint and not noticeable from a distance due to sleeve design. The track titles have been scribbled out in biro on the back cover. The back of the sleeve is not laminated. Stereo sticker on back. Original CBS inner sleeve in very good condition. Mainly recorded between June and August 1967 at Abbey Road and Olympic Studios, it was released on 19 April 1968 by CBS Records. "Time of the Season" was released as a single and became a surprise hit in early 1969. The Zombies are an English rock band, formed in 1961 in St Albans and led by Rod Argent (piano, organ and vocals) and Colin Blunstone (vocals). The group scored British and American hits in 1964 with "She's Not There". In the US two further singles, "Tell Her No" in 1965 and "Time of the Season" in 1969, were also successful. Because the band's budget could not cover session musicians, they used a Mellotron. By the time Odessey and Oracle was released in April 1968, the group had disbanded (in December 1967). The album sold poorly and was given a US release only because musician Al Kooper, then signed to Columbia Records, convinced his label of the album's merits. *Paul Weller of the The Jam has often named the album as one of his all-time favourites, citing in particular its 'autumnal' sound. In 2008, he included "Beechwood Park" in a playlist compiled for a magazine and has also covered "Time of the Season" during various radio sessions. *In 2012, Rolling Stone placed Odessey at #100 in its "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list. *Stylus magazine placed it at #196 on their "Top 101–200 Favourite Albums Ever" list. *The Guardian placed it at #77 on their "Alternative Top 100 Albums Ever" list. *Mojo magazine placed it at #97 in their "100 Greatest Albums Ever Made" list. *NME placed it at #32 on their "100 Greatest British Albums Ever!" list. *Q magazine placed it at #26 on their "50 Best British Albums Ever!" list. *Rate Your Music consistently ranks Odessey in the top 100 of its constantly changing "Top Albums of All-time" list. *Odessey was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
