Description

A 1st pressing of My Generation on the Brunswick label from 1965. Matrix 1B/1B. Stampers 1B/1B - yes, unbelievably, this is from the first ever stamper ["B"uckingham] - and thus from within the first 300 copies ever pressed. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Robert Stace. Also included is the original inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex) In superb shape - so many of those surviving have been played to death. It makes a nice change to listen to one that is this well preserved [low-mileage]. Under close inspection there are a couple of marks each side, but these are only superficial marks and will not/do not interfere with the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. After having heard so many re-processed stereo versions of these tracks it makes a nice change to hear the true mono straight from the masters! Given it's a 1B stamper you're certainly not going to get any closer to them. All I can say is that the audio is truly stunning - all the rawness of the guitars comes over as do the dynamics. Interference is minimal. We are grading very conservatively at Ex. Apart from a touch of static in one or two brief moments it plays back like a dream.
Cover (Vg+) Again, a real difficult task finding in nice condition and this one fares much better than most. Lovely shiny front which is almost free from laminate lift or creasing. The rear seems to have escaped much of the usual fading that so often afflicts these covers. The text on the spine is 100% intact. And what it is a very nice surprise - the cover retains very good rigidity - most, by now, are battered. A great specimen.
Inner (Ex) Great condition. No splits.
