Album Notes
Australian indie rock band had relocated to London from its native Perth, this 1985 release was much of the world's first introduction to the Triffids' broodingly atmospheric sound. Alternating between the shimmering, lovely '80s pop of "Chicken Killer" and the experimentalism of the mysterious "Tarrilup Bridge," the album also conjures the band's contemporary countryman Nick Cave on songs like the dark ballad "Life of Crime," while the cavernous "Stolen Property" and the country-tinged "Tender Is the Night" remain timeless classics.
