The real deal: an original vinyl release of The Tokens - Intercourse - BT Puppy BTPS 1027 (1972 Vinyl Record). To say the least, this is an extremely rare record. Only 200 of this were released on B.T. Puppy in 1972 after the Token’s label, Warner Brothers, rejected this record. Originally recorded in 1968 during the height of the Psychedelic rock era. The Tokens were better known for their 50s Doo Wop music (such as the “Lion Sleeps Tonight”) and this album was one of their (unsuccessful) forays into psychedelic music late in their career. Until the 2000s when a CD version and an updated LP of this record were released, it was nearly impossible to get a copy of this album. Considered by many to be one of the grails of Psychedelic/do wop music.
It’s going to be extremely hard to find a better copy of this record. This record has the original plastic shrink wrap on it and the original inner paper sleeve which is in great shape. We test played the record once on both sides on a fully automatic higher end Pioneer with a Goldring cartridge. Sounds very good, no scratches. As the photos show the record has not been cleaned, between songs, crackle and pop is audible. We don’t have the proper equipment to do a full professional cleaning, so we prefer to leave it for the next buyer to undertake that task. It doesn’t appear that the record has been played more than a few times ever. We will ship fully insured and in a large appropriately packaged box instead of one of those flat boxes.
The last one of these albums came up for auction in 2018, so it’s a rare opportunity to grab a very rare and interesting record. Will ship promptly and carefully. Must be signed for by buyer upon delivery and will not be delivered to a PO Box.
