Description
I am currently selling off a large collection of vinyl records, including a range of original singles and albums, on behalf of an elderly relative. With them having lived in London throughout the 60s and early 70s, they were mostly purchased from music and record shops around the Brixton area, thus meaning they have only ever had one owner from new. The collection reflects much of their youth, and has since been highly prized over the last five decades. This is an excellent opportunity for any collector to get their hands on a range of rare 1st release singles and albums, as well as programmes, posters and various other forms of memorabilia, that present quite remarkable condition and provenance.
This is an incredible opportunity to acquire a complete collection of all three of Nick Drake’s studio albums, all of which being UK 1st pressings. UK 1st pressing examples of these albums are extremely difficult to come across, not to mention a complete collection of them.
The owner, mentioned above, had the privilege of seeing Nick Drake perform live twice, and has since treasured these albums from new; they have had only one owner in all their life.
The albums are all UK 1st pressings, as indicated by the U1 matrix/ dead wax markings on either side of the LPs. The ‘Five Leaves Left’ album crucially includes the error of tracks 4 and 5 on the label being reversed on the track list on the back of the sleeve.
All three vinyls present VG+ to EX condition, having been tested and proving to play smoothly with no known issues. There are very slight marks/ evidence of play on the records, as you would expect for 50-year-old albums; their condition is rather incredible when accounting for their age. In terms of the card sleeves, all display VG to VG+ condition, with the ‘Bryter Layter’ sleeve having the noticeable wear to the back, as pictured in image 6/12.
