The Ruts In A Rut 7" SJP 795 UK 1st PRESS+STICKERED SLV

Up for grabs is this 7" single, in a plain sleeve (no picture sleeve was issued), by The Ruts. Entitled In A Rut, the B-side is H-Eyes. This is the original UK issue, first pressing which was limited to just 1000 copies. It has a black ring around the edge of the label, a Towerbridge Music publishing credit and, of course, a completely different catalogue number to subsequent pressings.

On the People Unite label, the catalogue number is SJP 795 and the date of issue is 1979. The matrix numbers are SJP 795-A1 LYN 6206 and SJP 795-B1 LYN 6207.

At the time of this release, The Ruts were heavily involved in the Rock Against Racism movement. Because of this involvement, some copies of the single (at least those sold in the band's local area), were housed not just in a white paper sleeve but also in a clear plastic sleeve with a fluorescent yellow and metallic blue Rock Against Racism sticker on it. This copy, as well as the original white paper sleeve, also still has this original stickered plastic sleeve (see pic). It has had one owner from new until now and was bought at the time of release from King Discs on Greenford Broadway (a stone's throw from The Ruts' home turf of Hayes).

Condition

The vinyl is in Very Good condition.

The labels are in Very Good Plus condition, clean and bright with clear, perfect printing but a bit of wear around the spindle hole.

The Rock Against Racism sticker is in Very Good condition.

The original white paper sleeve has no edge splits while the clear plastic sleeve containing the sticker has a very small split in the middle of the bottom edge.

All my vinyl records are strictly graded according to Record Collector magazine's grading system. Please check my GRADING GUIDE to see a description of each grade. If any item has any writing, stickers, sticker marks, tears etc these will always be mentioned along with the grading. All records are sent in custom-made mailers, with stiffeners, and are packaged outside their sleeves to prevent edge splits.
