Description
The Rolling Stones Book Monthly ran for 30 issues from June 1964 to November 1966. It contained 32 pages (including the illustrated front and rear covers) of interviews, news and photographs. The most rare are numbers 1, 2 and 30. Therefore, this issue No.2 is scarce and, with the signature of Brian Jones, this makes it a particularly sought-after magazine. The centrefold is (presumably) a fan portrait of Brian Jones which Jones has signed very clearly in blue ink. Brian Jones was, arguably, the original British template for the rock'n'roll lifestyle, seeking initially to emulate American bluesmen before creating, inhabiting and finally perishing from his own doomed, sybaritic excesses. A cross between Christopher Robin, Lord Byron and one of the fruitier Caesars. Jones signatures are scarce and this is a particularly clean example with a clear provenance.
