Description

For sale is a copy of a very rare 12" by a band from Baltimore, Maryland called Immortal (not to be confused with the many other bands sharing the same name). This was their only release off a tiny, local indie label called Social Skill Records. Despite the 1988 release date (actually recorded in '87), I would have guessed this came out circa '83-84 based on the overall sound if no date was listed. The tracks "Scale" and "Print" both sound incredibly influenced by the early Danse Society material. "Solvent" is a fast-paced, instrumental tune with a lot of synth. "Morning" is another excellent dark, solemn synth tune. Besides the obvious Danse Society comparisons, one might find some tracks similar to bands like Clan of Xymox, Handful of Snowdrops, Dark White, Yön, Crimson Ivy ... to name a few. You can find some youtube clips posted below for 3 of the songs off this 12".

The blog "Return To The East" writes:

"Quite a strange one this. Totally obscure (or at least I think so) and the work of an American band from the latter days of the 80's heavily influenced by The Danse Society.
Scale is the most obvious reference point, but all the songs are sparsely permeated by a nasal heavy vocal repetition, not distinctly unlike Steve Rawlings unmistakable voice. The music is cruder and more clattery, but the ghost of one of my favourite bands haunts all the proceedings and does it pretty well."

And the blog "Systems of Romance: writes:

"Very Danse Society/Killing Joke-esque tribal post-punk here, with plenty of ghosty hooks that make it an essential listen."

Item is still sealed, so the record is unplayed. Some relatively minor edge wear is present likely due to storage over the years and still being in the shrink wrap. A half ring mark is visible on the back cover of the sleeve, but nothing drastic. The shrink wrap is not stuck to the sleeve like sometimes happens over time. Overall in great shape.
