DESCRIPTION:
A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity!
30 Made- Only 25 Ever Released to the Public!

O.K., all you Residents fanatics- here's one you won't be seeing again soon. Due to some overwhelming family issues, I need to raise some money, SO... I'm doing something I swore I'd never do. I'm selling my Third Reich and Roll Collector's Box, which I bid for and won back in the late seventies. I very briefly worked for W.E.I.R.D. (actually, only long enough to get together with Mimi King, the Pres, once, and only to find out the fan club was being discontinued... sigh), and was one of the lucky few who won the Collector's Box when the auction was announced. This is number 22 of only 25 total that were released for public sale (an additional five are in the hands of the mysterious foursome themselves and the Cryptic Corporation).

For anyone unfamiliar with it, this box was handmade by The Residents themselves. The album is multicolored purple/red/white/black vinyl that was handpressed on a special manual record press. The labels and album sleeve were hand silkscreened and glued, and the box cover was also hand silkscreened and finished. The album in its sleeve resides in an attractive black lacquered box with a sliding cover and black velvet backing. The box has a gold seal over the edge (broken open, of course) embossed with the words "Official Limited Edition- Ralph Records", and the box slides into a bag which is silkscreened "The Residents Present: The Third Reich 'N Roll". The bag was constructed from a panel of the artist Christo's famous "Running Fence" piece.

A quote from the Cryptic Corp. liner notes regarding this album:
The Residents third album was released in 1976. The love/hate relationship the Eyeball Ones have with Pop Music has, perhaps, never been better stated than in this scathingly satirical look at '60s bubble-gum rock somehow twisted into shocking '70s bubble-gum Avant Garde. With a swift kick in the balls, The Residents leave Rock 'n Roll as fodder for tomorrow's dough-brains.

Overall. the album and the box are in excellent condition. The album was only played very carefully once (I had to see if there was any difference between this recording and the standard 3rd R and R release- nope, it's identical. :). The bag containing the box has a couple of spots along the edges that have become unraveled at the seams, and a couple of minor discolorations- this isn't due to anything I did, as I've kept it very carefully and securely, I just don't think this fabric was meant to be used in this fashion!

Questions, serious inquiries, etc., are welcome- I can be reached at: richard@richardwhite.com.

A note to Residents Fans: Because of E-Bay's policies regarding inflammatory political symbols, etc., and because it's hard to tell what will and won't offend other E-Bay members, I've taken the initiative of censoring all images of swastikas that appear on the album's artwork. If you would like to view the original, uncensored artwork on my site at a slightly larger resolution, go to:

A note for the politically sensitive and/or confused Nazi regalia collectors: In spite the cover art and imagery, this is NOT a White Power/Pro-Nazi album, it is a SATIRE! The Residents are an avant-garde group who recorded this as a surreal montage of 60's pop tunes as only they could re-interpet them (hence the picture of Dick Clarke on the cover- get it?)

SHIPPING INFORMATION:

Buyer will be required to pay shipping costs. I am willing to ship wherever is desired, Worldwide. I can ship via U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, Airbourne Express, or DHL. I will require that this item be insured for an amount equal to that of what it sells for. If you win the auction and have any specific packing and/or packaging requests, please let me know- I'll do everything in my power to satisfy any reasonable requirements (When I've shipped rare records in the past, I generally wrap them in bubblewrap, sandwich the package between two thin sheets of plywood or masonite, and then package all of that in a box or appropriate heavy-duty paper- that's been sufficient to send records as far as Australia without harm!).

NOTES AND FINE PRINT:
As I stated above, if you are interested and have any questions about this item, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at: richard@richardwhite.com. As I've been a huge fan of The Residents for many, many years, I'm very sorry circumstances are forcing me to sell this one-of-a-kind piece of Ralph Records history, and I truly hope that it finds a good home with another truly deserving fan. Good Luck, all, and Whoopy Snorp, Whoopy Snorp away!
