Record will be shipped outside of sleeve to prevent any more paper sleeve damage. I  do my best  to accurately grade  and describe record and sleeve conditions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.   This is a 61 year old shallac 78 RPM record. Occasional surface noise may be noticeable during soft passages, between tracks, or during playback.   This 10” 78 RPM record is one of two records by The Mello-Tones on the Decca label. Decca 48319 was also produces as a 7” 45 RPM single. There was a 1956 re-issue on a EP with tracks by Gloria Mann on the other side. (Gloria Mann / The Mello-Tones - Rhythm And Blues Bit, ED2399  ?(7", EP )   The members were: Ray Hulbert (lead tenor), Joe Lipscomb (2nd tenor), Oliver James (baritone), and Louis O'Neil (bass).  There were at least three other groups recording as the Mellotones   On the strength of this recording (which had disappointing sales) they did a lot of one-nighters. They also made the rounds of the "Chitlin' Circuit," appearing at the Apollo, Howard, and Royal, as well as an Eastern Seaboard tour with the Midnighters (all of which was booked by Joe Glaser at the ABC booking agency).   The Mello-Tones: not exactly a household name, even in their heyday. Considering that they recorded for both a giant of the recording industry (Decca) and a giant of the emerging Rock and Roll sound (George Goldner's Gee Label), the Mello-Tones were one of the more obscure New York groups of the 50s.   Ray Hulbert's Mello-Tones lasted into the 60s. But then the inevitable marriages and "other ventures" finally broke them up. Never having been all that interested in the money to be made from recording, they still felt that their career "wasn't moving enough to keep their attention." The Mello-Tones were typical of groups that had the talent, and even the breaks, but for whatever reasons just didn't make it. (2009  Ray Hulbert interview with Marv Goldberg)   Record condition: VG+   Some visible surface wear, very minor scratches and scuffs, but they had minimal impact on the sound quality. Disc played perfectly. I heard no skips and only remember one "pop" or "click." The side with "I'm Gonna Get What I Came For Last Night" played almost perfect.  The side with "I'm Just Another One In Love With You" had a bit of static and one "pop" or "click." At start up, "static" was heard, but disappeared as the music and vocals started. There will be a hairline scratch or two but nothing that is obvious or greatly affected play or interfered overly with the sound quality. The record is bright and shiny; label is clean and unmarked.   Sleeve Condition:  VG   The original Decca paper sleeve is more or less intact. One side is split halfway down and the bottom, center, has a 3 inch split. The paper is brittle and wrinkled. There are tears at the opening.
