The Limousines' 2011 full-length debut, Get Sharp, delivers more of the indie electronic duo's much buzzed-about-online synth pop. Tracks such as the timely "Very Busy People" -- a song about wasting time online and other often fruitless modern pastimes -- and the group's Buggles-inspired update "Internet Killed the Video Star" are smartly ironic, self-aware pop songs where the literate, critical tone never gets in the way of your humming along to a catchy melody or dancing to a hot beat. While it can be assumed that much of the music here has a digital studio origin, there is often a lo-fi, analog, and even experimental quality to many of the cuts on Get Sharp. Tracks like the moody and funky "Dancing at Her Funeral" and the atmospheric "Wildfires" mix an ear for '90s shoegaze with modern R&B beats, over which singer Eric Victorino croons with a psychedelic, club kid yawlp. In that sense, the Limousines fit neatly next to such similarly inclined contemporaries as MGMT and Black Kids. Ultimately, while Get Sharp is certainly a product of the Internet age, the Limousines, with all their meme-like in-joke self-awareness, seem to be saying "I know, right!" ~ Matt Collar
