Hank Mobley "The Jazz Message #2" 1957

RARE Savoy Records (MG 12092), DG, RVG, Mono, VG-

This incomparable album comprises tracks from two recording sessions at Van Gelder Studios, in Hackensack, New Jersey, in 1956.  A founding member of the Jazz Messengers, Mobley trades his band between these sessions, featuring artists such as Lee Morgan, Donald Byrd, Kenny Clarke, and Art Taylor.  This is the original mono pressing of this album.  The vinyl is in VG- condition; there are several small scratches and scuffs on the vinyl.  However, we played this record in-house, using a Pro-Ject Debut III table with carbon tone-arm and an Ortofon Red cartridge, and it plays through quite well, with very light surface noise.  The cover shows some light wear on the top and bottom seams, as well as foxing on the back cover.
