Original LP on the REGAL ZONOPHONE RECORDS LABLE cat# SLRZ 1017 issue from 1971 STEREO
FIRST PRESSING MATRIXES COPY!!
This great band issued 3 quality LP's, Birthday Party got them off to a great psychedelic start, and their 2nd effort was a progression too. Then, Jeff Lynne took off to join The MOVE.
Since he was the creative source of their sound, you might have thought that would be the end - but the band just got on with making this great third record.
Sadly then, this sank without trace and this was indeed the last record.
It's quite a departure from the whimsical humour, and they took a more mature approach to their music here. There is a Prog side alright, but with some folk sensibility in the mix too.
There are some memorable tracks - 'By The Sun' is a fantastic prog-psych track, edgy and mean, great! 'Sad O Sad' and 'Bitter Green' are cool folk-rock songs, and really the album stands up as a whole, a lost classic in many ways.
The disc is in very nice NEAR MINT condition, FULL shine and no scratches or scuff.
The lables grade NM, a small 'Factory Sample' promo sticker on side 2, which could probably be removed.
The single-sleeve textured 'flipback' cover is lovely EX condition, very respectable shape!
