Description

An original 1st issue of HISTORY on the UK CBS label from autumn 1973. Matrix A1/B1/C1/D1 - 1st cut. Please note this hits LP was only marketed to EUROPE - I believe the USA had to import it. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover printed by Shorewood. Note that the 2nd disc seems to be pressed heavier than the first - which perhaps suggests that this copy comes from the period when the oil crisis began to cause variability in the pressing weight of vinyl. But either way the pressing quality from CBS is excellent - and the audio is gorgeous.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex/Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of deviations on disc 2. By and large a sweet player. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Precious little to take issue with. Lovely audio dished out track after track. There's a bit of static in the quieter moments of 'Chestnut Mare' & then through 'Yesterdays Train' & 'Season'  - but these are the fussiest tracks on the entire LP. The other deviation is caused by a tiny mark midway through 'Truck Drivin Man'. It causes five clicks - that's all. If you can live with that one issue the rest of the LP will knock-you-out.
Cover (Ex-) Lovely clean and flat with no creasing. Tiny small sticker removal mark top right. The interior looks superb - still nice and white with just a touch of light foxing over on the extreme right. Very little edge wear and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact - just one tiny patch of wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
