Description

The photos on the back of the Resurrection Album are from the Doors performance, on December 9th, 1967, in New Haven, Connecticut, where Jim was arrested on stage. The Life Magazine photographer Yvonne Chabree was also arrested and the New Haven Police attempted to confiscate her film. She refused saying “I’ll meet you in the Supreme Court.” Yvonne prevailed.

Jim was thrilled to get arrested on stage. His arrest stemmed from an incident that happened backstage before the show began. Jim was backstage with a girl when the police tried to kick him out saying the public wasn’t allowed in the venue. Jim tried to tell them he was performing that night. But a policeman peppered sprayed him in his eyes anyway. Jim’s eyes were red and he was mad when he went on stage and began relating his experience with the audience. Jim then started taunting the little blue policeman. As taunted and taunted them the audience started booing the police. It quickly got to point where the police walked onto the stage and arrested Jim. The Life magazine photographer, Yvonne Chabree was also arrested. Both Jim and Yvonne Chabree were quickly released. The following week there was a 6-page spread in Life magazine featuring Yvonne Chabree’s stunning pictures of the New Haven Police arresting Jim on stage.

Please note the album corners have wear and there is a 2.5 inch slit on the bottom right corner.

The seller wrote and produced the 1988, 6-hour internationally syndicated, “The Doors from the inside” in association with Jac Holzman. Holzman founded Elektra Records and signed the Doors.

Gibson also wrote and produced the 1990, Westwood One internationally syndicated, 11 hour radio show “The Doors: Setting the Record Straight.”
