The Doors EKL-4007 First MONO Monarch Pressing January 1967 w/Inner VG+ Ex

The Doors sensational and legendary self-titled debut album.  This is the famous and highly sought after Mono version.  This mix has several differences which one notices very quickly when one is familiar with the more common Stereo version.  The sound of the drums in particular are more upfront and punchy.  There are many other differences but they vary from song to song. 
The copy I am offering also happens to be the earliest  Mono pressing manufactured at the Monarch pressing plant in Los Angeles, CA., where the band was from.  This is the copy you would have found in stores in California between January and March 1967.  This is the real McCoy. 
Earliest First U.S. Mono [Monarch] Pressing indicators:
1. Spelling error on Side 1 first song.  Instead of (To The Other Side) it is spelt (To The Oher Side)
2. Matrix numbers Side 1:  EKL - 4007A   (MON) Stamped MR [In a circle]  triangle symbol 10046                              Side 2 : EKL - 4007B   (MON)  Stamped MR [In a circle]  triangle symbol 10046-X
3. Publishing credit Side 1 for 'Alabama Song' should read Witmark (ASCAP) later pressings have it credited to 'Harms Co.'
As most collectors know, this is a very difficult pressing to find in Near Mint condition from start to finish. Even sealed copies can sometimes have pressing issues and worse, found to be warped.  Therefore, due to the rarity and historical significance of this pressing, I have (exceptionally) graded each song individually.

As you can see, most of the songs play very well and aside from the first few minutes of 'The End' (due to some light ticks) the whole album plays wonderfully.  
Cover: VG+ .....the covers that were printed for these early 1967 pressings were somewhat more robust and had a distinctive texture when angled under light. Almost like old shoe leather. Later examples were smoother and  slightly flimsier.  There is some minor ring wear and rubbing to this delicate jacket but it has fared far better than most that are found from this year. 
Inner-Sleeve: Excellent......made of thicker,  textured paper. This is the earliest Elektra Records inner-sleeve you can find for this pressing.  The UK London address printed has their offices on 7, Poland Street. This pre-dates the 2, Dean Street address which is what is commonly printed and appears on the back of the cover along the bottom.  One corner has an inoffensive crease and not surprisingly, there is a 1" split at the bottom edge.  A higher quality inner will be included to house the precious record.
Record: VG ~ Excellent.....the thick and heavy vinyl shows some scuffing and hairlines but most are superficial and have no bearing on the audio. Both labels are near perfect....which is extraordinary.  Please read the above (song by song) details which will give you a better idea of the condition of the record.
