Rrrrare copy of the ultra limited UK picture disc release of The Cures "Disintegration", a flowered disc with Robert's face in a printed PVC sleeve. Unfortunately the pressing quality isn't the best so this has a lot of surface noise. Of course this never owerpowers the music but it never goes away either, delivering some kind of aural backdrop. So if you actually want to listen and enjoy the music you should go for the standart black vinyl version or the CD. But then again some people actually find surface noise "warm" and "organic".
For my ears this is a genuine collectors item, looking absolutely lovely especially when the record is in the sleeve and Robert's eyes are peeping through the floral ornaments on the outside. Condition: The sleeve is a delicate affair and lots of copies come in torn and splitted sleeves. This one has a faint touch of ringwear, the seam on the front's left side was cut open by the vinyl but only about two inches, there also is a small tiny hole in the middle of front and back where... OK....I'll have to admit it....I had this thing on my wall decades ago and being just a teenager I thought it acceptable to stick a pin through the cover and the albums middle hole. What can I say. Except that the girls loved it ;-) The last 15 years I kept the vinyl in a polylinered inner sleeve to spare the original cover and even though this is by no means mint it surely is one of the better examples of this frail thing. Shall we say VG?
The vinyl, oh! The vinyl! Difficult to judge because it is SO damned colorful. What you see are several light surface marks, mostly coming from taking the record out of the sleeve. Just played the first side and it sounds better than I remembered it. It is actually quite enjoyable if you can stand a little surface noise. Difficult to say which amount comes from the pressing and which amount was added by my tiny teenage hands. But since I always played it on a Thorens deck, it never suffered severe abuse. Optically I would grad it as VG but sonically.... well... to be honest...I'd go for VG-. But keep in mind that even a Stone Mint copy would hardly sound much better than VG, maybe VG+.
And if we consider that this IS rare as it was very limited and you are actually not going to listen to this anyway this should offer a nice opportunity to add this to your collection. And impress your friends. Or some girls ;-)
Postage: Ebay says Zero but.... 5 Pound would be very nice. So I can send this out registered to you.
