The Chantay's were a surf/hot rod instrumental group who came from Southern California in the early 60's.   With an enormous thunder, they topped the charts with the classic surf song "Pipeline".  Never able to measure up to the success of "Pipeline", The Chantay's faded from the music scene by 1966.  This album is the epitome of The Chantay's at their very best.  Slip this album on, put on your trunks and get ready to ride the waves!

Cover is in "EX" condition.  Front cover has a nice sheen.  There is some wear, but very minor.  There are four minor creases on the left side.  There is a crease at the top right.  There is slight darkening of the yellow background.  Top edge shows signs of wear, no splits.  Spine shows signs of wear, no splits.  Bottom shows signs of wear, no splits.  Back cover does have slight ring wear.  There is minor darkening from age.  There is a small triangle in the upper left corner that has been torn off.  Cardboard is not torn.  Triangle is about 3/4" that the widest point.  There is a name written along the top edge just to the right of center.  Writing is 1 3/4" x 1/4". 

Vinyl is in "Fair to Good" condition.  One look at this record and you may think I lost my mind.  However, this vinyl slab is made with early 60's industrial grade wax.  It took a beating and keeps on ticking.  Multiple scrapes and numerous scratches (light to deep), this record still plays amazingly well with no skips and with noticable but far from overwhelming surface noise.

Vinyl grading is usually based on the Goldmine standard and is as follows:

"SS" - Still Sealed

• For the collector that demands nothing but perfection.

"M" - Mint

• These are absolutely perfect in every way.  Mint should never be used as a grade unless more than one person agrees that the record or sleeve truly is in this condition.

"NM" -  Near Mint

• Vinyl - In factory fresh condition, like new.
• Covers - Have no creases, ring wear or seam splits of any kind.

"EX+" - Excellent plus

• Vinyl - close to new with only superficial signs of use that don't affect play.
• Cover - close to like new with only superficial signs of use.

EX - Excellent

• Vinyl - A used, reasonable copy.  Shows slight signs of wear.
• Cover - Shows slight signs of wear.

VG+ - Very Good Plus

• Vinyl - May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience.  Slight warps that do no affect the sound are okay.  Minor signs of handling are okay, too, such as tell-tell marks around the center hole, but repeated playing has not misshapen the hole.  Light surface noise may be heard between tracks or during quiet passages, but still plays quite nice.
• Cover - Should have only minor wear and may have a split less than one inch long.  Also, a VG+ cover may have some defacing such as a cut-out marking. 

VG - Very Good

• Vinyl - Significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.  Still plays great.
• Covers - Will have many signs of human handling.  Ring wear may be present as well as some creases visible.  Seam splitting will be more obvious, and it may appear on all three sides. 

Good

• Vinyl - Good does not mean bad!  The record still plays through without skipping so it can serve as a filler until something better comes along.  But it has significant surface noise and groove wear, and the label is worn. 
• Cover - The cover has ring wear to the point of distraction, has seam splits obvious on sight and may have heavier writing, such as, for example, huge radio station letters written across the front to deter theft. 

Poor to Fair

• Vinyl - Record is cracked and/or impossibly warped or skips repeatedly when an attempt is made to play them
• Cover - So heavily damaged that it is almost unrecognizable.
