THE CANADIAN INVASION
ACME RECORDING SERVICES OF TORONTO / CANADIAN ONLY PRESS / SERIAL #QC749/ NO BARCODE / INDUSTRY ONLY PROMO LP / ONLY ONE AVAILABLE
This is one of many LPs and CDs that we currently have running on line. Check our other auctions for the rest.
This is the ultra rare Coke promo LP release in June 1969 on the heels of The Guess Who's major success with These Eyes. Features two tracks by them as well as The Mandala (Dominic Troiano), Nucleus. The Five Man Electrical Band and The Magic Cycle. No song writer credits are given but it appears that each act was made to come up with jingles that matched their styles. Surprisingly good performances for something that was probably approached as a joke by most of the bands.
If you check past on-line auctions you will see that this LP has sold in similar condition for between $245.00 - $300.00

CONDITION
As most regular buyers know we always provide two series of grading on used vinyl. A general, letter grading and a more detailed one. While this may seem tedious to some with novice buyers out there as well as "higher end" audiophile it's necessary to make everyone comfortable with what they're buying..
General Grading
I would list this as VG/VG+. For buyers not aware of the lettering system VG/VG+ falls between these criterias and is categorized in the following way...
Very Good Plus (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".
Very Good (VG) . Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. .

LP CONDITION:
Side 1. The label has a couple of stress marks along the centre hole but extremely minor (chck photo). There are roughly 20 small but visible marks on the playing surface. Most of them under 1" and about four of them slighly longer. None can be felt with a finger but all are visible, primarily the ones through tracks 3-6 which has the biggest cluster of them . These are by the bands Nucleus and The Magic Cycle. I heard light background noise but I heard no loud pops when running it..
I played all of side 1 with the treble hiked up so I could hear the most detail. There is present surface noise in quiter passages but I found it all to be very enjoyable and surprisingly clear with no high end distortion. There is slight noise on the brief intoductions to songs 3-6. On track 8 (Mandala - Rehersal) there is an opening part to the track where it's just studio chatter before the actual song. It's contains the most audible noise under the chatter but during the music section of the track it's quite acceptable..
Side 2. Flip side is blank with no music and just a solid white label. Stamped on it is the name "Acme Recording Studios Service"
COVER CONDITION:
In surprisingly good condition with only one visible "bump" in the lower left edge (see photos). No pen marks, no ringing. Has a nice laminate finish with great shine.
SHIPPING: Due to the weight and dimensions shipping within Canada will be $10.00 with insurance. Air mail to the States with insurance is $13.00.
