Description
I was a regular visitor, in the late 1960's, to The Tropicana jazz club in Croydon where the resident band was The Bird Curtis Quintet which featured a, then, relatively unknown Daryl Runswick. Guest bands that I remember hearing where Tibby Hayes and Ian Carr/Don Rendell.
Then in 1967, The Bird Curtis Quintet issued their first (and only) LP. A limited pressing of 100 and so very rare. My own copy is even rarer as it has been signed by all members of the band.
Recorded in London, Putney SW15, it has the full address of the house where Tony Pike Music Ltd had his recording studio. THE BIRD CURTIS QUINTET. It's recorded in MONO, the artists all performed at the Green Man at Blackheath from 1962 to 1967. "If you haven't heard the group before you will be surprised at the beauty and originality of the music", it says on the cover notes , and it is very, very cool.
It is in wonderful condtion, clean, straight, the heavy vinyl is clean flat and plays beautifully, the quality is as good as any I have heard, graded excellent plus, minimal spindle wear, some background noise. A real collectors album, and in superb condition 44 years old.
Hear music as its meant to be heard.
I will post this protected by plywood as it is so rare.
I am willing to ship to countries outside the UK.
