Description

Here is a GREAT BEATLES NOVELTY LP for someone’s vinyl collection.

In this auction:

·       “YESTERDAY AND TODAY”  PICTURE DISC by THE BEATLES

·       This is a PICTURE DISC EDITION of the BEATLES’ INFAMOUS “BUTCHER COVER”.

·       One side features the “Yesterday And Today”LP “BUTCHER” Cover, and the other side pictures the “Yesterday And Today” LP Replacement “TRUNK” Cover.

·       This LP has the Capitol Records logo and ST 2553, the number for the Stereo Pressing of the LP.

·       This picture disc is most likely a novelty item or unofficial release.

·       I read on-line that it was released in 2007, but I cannot confirm it.

·       I also read that it was a new EU import picture disc, but I doubt it due to the Capitol Records logo on it.

·       The TRACKS on this LP are:

BUTCHER Side: “Yesterday”, “Dr. Robert”, “I’m Only Sleeping”, “And Your Bird Can Sing”, “We Can Work It Out”, and “Day Tripper”.

TRUNK Side: “Nowhere Man”, “What Goes On”, “Drive My Car”, “If I Needed Someone”, and “Act Naturally”.

·       As you most likely know, the original cover issued for the “Yesterday And Today” LP (known as the “Butcher Cover”) featured the Beatles wearing butcher smocks with slabs of red meat and decapitated baby dolls. Outcry from the public about it caused Capitol Records to stop production of that cover and to recall the LPs already shipped with that cover. To save money, Capitol then pasted “Trunk Cover” slicks over copies of the LPs with “Butcher Cover” slicks and sent them out again to record retailers.

·       This PICTURE DISC is in NEAR MINT CONDITION. It looks like it has only been minimally played if played at all.

·       It comes open in a plastic sleeve. There is NO COVER.

A NICE ADDITION to someone’s vinyl collection or a GREAT ITEM to frame and put on the wall in someone’s vinyl room!
