This auction is for The Beatles "White Album" gatefold double-LP, released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in 1982. This album is near mint, and probably the cleanest copy one will ever seen apart from coming across a sealed copy. The gatefold cover is in near perfect condition (please note that the slight outward bend that the top and the bottom of the cover in the picture appears to have is due to the way that the album was photographed at our store, and not reflective of the the near perfect state of the cover itself). The records appear to never have been removed from the special plastic inner sleeves, and since I don't want to be the first to remove them from the sleeves, all I can say is the vinyl that is visible from looking inside the sleeves looks as glossy as the day it was pressed. The record also includes the special cardboard fold-over inserts, with all the lyrics reprinted; these also are in near perfect condition. Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia explaining the significance of this particular pressing:
On 7 January 1982, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) released the album in a non-embossed unnumbered version of cover with the ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING banner at the top. Neither the poster nor portraits were included. The labels to the discs are white with primarily black text and the Capitol dome logo at three o'clock. The MFSL discs were made with Super Vinyl, a heavy and hard compound that provides an extraordinary quiet playing surface. Although MFSL leased the album from Capitol and used the company's sub-master,[citation needed] many fans believe they sound superior to the standard British and American pressings. The discs were stored in "rice paper" static-free, dust-free inner sleeves enclosed in an off-white gatefold reinforced stiff board that fit into the custom fabricated album jacket.
