One of the holy grail Beatles albums, this is the very first mono pressing with -2 -1 matrix code endings (while the later first stereo pressings have -1 -1, all subsequent mono pressings are -2 -2). This pressing was quickly withdrawn as the band and management weren't happy with the mix on Tomorrow Never Knows, the final track on Side 2. Known as 'remix 11', it appeared on this pressing and this pressing only and was subsequently changed for a preferred mix on all other mono and stereo pressings. There are differing opinions on how many were pressed before withdrawal, but suffice to say, this is a very sought after piece of music history - particularly in such fantastic condition. Along with the first pressing vinyl, this copy also has the first issue Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve with flipbacks and 'Dr Robert' track listing (it also appears as Dr Robert on the labels) later corrected to Doctor Robert. This is an incredibly well preserved copy and the audio is stunning.
Vinyl: the audio is Excellent and visually too, it is very close to Excellent. There is nothing significant on the playing surface at all - nothing that causes any issues during playback, just the odd light mark. There is a little light mottling in places but the surfaces are generally bright and fresh in appearance. The labels too are very bright and clean with only light to moderate spindle marks (see photos) signalling a relatively lightly played copy.
Sleeve: Excellent. First issue sleeve with laminated front and flipbacks. No previous owner markings or major flaws. A beautiful, Excellent copy with just very light storage and handling evidence to show for its 56 years.
Inner/insert: Original Emitex inner sleeve is Excellent.
