Description
We have listed this recently however we have since had the record graded. Based on the rare record price guide grading system the vinyl is in good condition. There are some marks and light scratches on the vinyl however the quality of the pressing is second to none and plays well with a few pops on side one. The vinyl has some scuffing around the spindle hole. The sleeve has some scuffing and some small tears but overall is rated as being in very good condition with no real noticeable creases to the laminate. Inner is the made in England Patents applied for Emitex type.
This is the rare early third label pressing of Please Please Me as listed in the record collector 200 rarest records of all time at number 12. These elusive labels are even rarer than the "Northern Songs" Golds, and for many years went unnoticed until very recently. This has the additional very small 33 1/3 which was left over from the gold labels (near the centre hole). This was a mistake as there was a big 33 1/3 (above the Yellow Parlophone) in the newly designed Yellow & Black label overlay. It was only after the inital run of the new label batch that were only pressed on Machine B, did they realise the mistake and took the extra 33 1/3 lettering off the press virtually straight away. This Stereo PCS 3042 pressing is a lot scarcer than the Mono. The mother stamps are YEX94 - 1P and YEX95 - 1G
