The Beatles second UK single ‘PLEASE PLEASE ME/ASK ME WHY’ was released on 11th January 1963. The first Issues were initially pressed on the RED Parlophone Label, however, during January 1963, EMI/Parlophone moved to a new design Black and Silver Parlophone label, and all future pressings of this single were pressed on the new Black and Silver label, thereby making Red Parlophone Label versions of ‘Please Please Me/Ask Me Why’ much harder to find.

Released by Parlophone, UK on 11th January 1963 - 50 years ago - this FIRST ISSUE Vinyl 45 is on the DISTINCTIVE RED Parlophone Label with Silver Printed text, with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd....’ label rim, ‘Recording First Published 1963’, and ‘Dick James Music Co Ltd’ publishing credits. This version is without ‘Made In Gt. Britain’ text on both labels.
Both record labels are in superb undamaged Near Mint condition, the labels are free from any handwriting, all that is visible are a couple of light centre spindle lines, there is no fading to the silver printed text.
Side 1 matrix: 7XCE 17217-1N and Side 2: 7XCE-17218-1N.
Side 1 stampers: MPT 1 L and Side 2: PT2 L.
There is an embossed early PT tax code visible on the side one record label. The *PT* Tax Code was introduced in November 1962 through to January 1963.
Both sides of the Vinyl disc are in immaculate Near Mint condition, the vinyl surfaces are extremely clean and free from scratches and scuffs, this single has been very well cared for by the previous owner, just superb.
Both sides of the record play beautifully well on both tracks, a very clear fresh sound quality, without skips, without crackle, without clicks or pops, the sound quality of this vinyl disc is one of the best I’ve have heard for a long time.
The Vinyl 45 comes in it’s original Multi-Coloured Parlophone Company Bag.
The Original Parlophone Multi-coloured bag is a very nice example inExcellent condition, free from handwriting, tearing, and seam splits, with just light creasing.
A beautiful example of this very rare Beatles Second UK single release. Becoming more and more difficult to find in this pristine condition, and with a superior sound quality too.
