Historical Notes
• Recorded live in December 1962 at the Star-Club, Hamburg, shortly after Ringo Starr joined the band.
• Captured on a Grundig reel-to-reel by club associate Ted “Kingsize” Taylor.
• Not authorized by The Beatles — EMI and the band attempted to block its release.
• Despite poor audio fidelity, it remains a historic document of The Beatles’ raw pre-fame live sound.
• Historic Records was one of several labels in Europe to issue this in the late 1970s.
