Description
Up for sale is a very first stereo pressing of this iconic Beatles album. With this album in particular, the mono mix sounds rather dull and lifeless in a lot of places so the stereo version, being competently mixed and mastered (Unlike a lot of other Beatles stereo LPs of the time) is arguably the very best sounding version of this early Beatles album, and this first press cutting is one of my favourite examples of 1960s vinyl ever. It sounds rich, and warm throughout due to it's vacuum tube cutting, a loud and confident sound that exemplifies itself throughout every single track on the album, even the songs on the inner grooves still maintain this energy without any distortion that we normally associate with inner groove tracks and the music comes alive like I've never heard on any other format, or any cutting succeeding it. You could argue that these first pressings truly are the real sound of the Beatles!
This was my personal copy but I am selling it due to having upgraded to a Near Mint copy, even though there's barely any difference!
Vinyl Visual Grade - VG+ - The vinyl is glossy and looks like it's been well cared for. There is a fair amount of spindle trails on the labels and some small hairlines that probably came from the Emitex Inner this record was stored in but it's clear that it's been well cared for.
Play Grade - EX - There is some small noise on the run-ins and between tracks but once the music starts, the playback is essentially flawless! The wonderful rich sound of this record entices the listeners to a point where it's all you can hear, and it sounds beautiful from beginning to end. Energetic, warm and never a poor moment, even on the inner groove tracks! Only the very occasional pop or tick to be expected with an LP of this age. This pressing is a beautiful example of what was possible with the cutting lathes!
Cover - VG/VG+ - The original gatefold cover has held up quite nicely over the years, although it isn't perfect. The gloss of the laminate still retains it's original beautiful sheen but there are a couple of creases on the front flap, with what seems like some staining closer to the top which is also on the inside, some small wear on the pinched edges of the spine and some thumb marks on on the inside of the gatefold. The spine itself is still clear and readable, with only slight amounts of wear in the laminate. It's not perfect, but it still looks great and feels good to hold too! This cover is the version with the blended airbrushing on the back cover, some other pressings of this album have glaring outlines around the four Beatles but not on this one
Original Emitex inner is included too, but it does seem to have splits on all three sides. The bottom one has been taped up, but this was not done myself. I recieved the album like this.
