Description

I am selling some BEATLES LPs (duplicates) from my collection. So, please check my other upcoming auctions.

IN THIS AUCTION:

·       “BEATLES ? ? by the Beatles

·       This LP is from Audio Tape, Inc. and is labeled ATRBH.

·       This LP was issued in 1972.

·       I understand that this compilation, released in 1972, was also pitched on TV just as John Lennon’s Roots LP was. And just like Lennon’s Roots LP, it was pulled from the market prohibiting further sales of it, making it a collectors’ item. Just as the Roots LP caused Apple to rush produce Lennon’s Rock & Roll Music LP, the Alpha omega LP caused Apple to rush the release of The Beatles 1962-1966 (Red) LP and The Beatles 1967 – 1970 (Blue) LP.

·       I also found this more detailed info on-line from Tim Neely about this LP: It was in 1972 that the first Copyright Act that also protected music came into effect. Recordings made on or after February 1, 1972 were protected under federal (U.S.) copyright law for the first time. But in many states, common law protected earlier recordings, even if federal law did not. Apparently, New Jersey was a state that had a comparatively lax copyright law (unlike New York, which had a big recording-industry presence). The Alpha Omega LP box set was issued by Audio Tape, Inc. in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Because on a national level, the issue of pre-1972 copyright was unsettled law, Audio Tape Inc. basically forced a test case by widely marketing its Beatles compilation. At that time, there was no similar Beatles compilation available in the United States. In the end Audio Tape Inc. lost the lawsuit filed by Capitol Records. It had to stop advertising and selling its product, Alpha Omega and shortly thereafter, The Beatles 1962-1966 and The Beatles 1967-1970 LPs came out. Clearly, the timing was not coincidental, and they probably would not have happened without the Audio Tape Inc. Alpha Omega release.

·       "Alpha Omega" by the Beatles Track Listing: Act Naturally, All I've Got To Do, All My Loving, And I Love Her, Baby's In Black, Yesterday, Ballad Of John And Yoko, Bangladesh, Can't Buy Me Love, Come Together, Day Tripper, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Eight Days A Week, Eleanor Rigby, Uncle Albert, I Should Have Known Better, It Won't Be Long , I Want To Hold Your Hand, Lady Madonna, Ticket To Ride, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Michelle, Mr. Moonlight, I Feel Fine, If I Fell, I'll Be Back, Hey Jude, I'm A Loser, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, I Saw Her Standing There, Nowhere Man, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, Paperback Writer, Penny Lane, Help, Roll Over Beethoven, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Get Back, Hello Goodbye, Revolution #1, Here Comes The Sun, I'll Follow The Sun, Imagine, Honey Don't, We Can Work It Out, With A Little Help From My Friends, Yellow Submarine, Baby You're A Rich Man, You Can't Do That, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Maybe I'm Amazed, A Hard Day's Night, She Loves You, Something, Strawberry Fields Forever, Tell Me Why, The Long And Winding Road, Let It Be, Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby.

·       The BOX COVER is only in Good Condition. All 4 corners on both the lid and 3 corners on the bottom are split. There are also some missing box sides pieces near some corners (see images)and some splits midway on some of the box sides, not only at the corners. The cover image looks nice (see images). There is also some wear on the box bottom where the song titles are listed. I had planned to work on reconstructing the box into better shape, but I'll have to leave that for its next owner.

·       The VINYL (8 sides); 5 sides are Near Mint to NM Minus and 3 sides are VG+.

·       A nice COLLECTORS ITEM that was pulled from the market.

FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (G for Good, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY grade the LPs and 45s I auction, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
