SLEEVE IN EXCELLENT+++ CONDITION
EMITEX INNER SLEEVE IN EXCELLENT+ CONDITION
The Album comes in its original Emitex Inner sleeve (EX+ cond) and is housed in its original front-laminated 'Flipback' E. J. DAY Sleeve, with the large 'mono' wording printed on the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve. This is one of the nicest sleeves I've seen for this album (and I've seen MANY!!), almost pure white to the unlaminated rear and totally crease & wrinkle-free to the front, deeply glossy and pristine, with razor sharp opening edges and truly perfect in every way. So rare for a 1963 E.J. DAY sleeve, sleeves which tended to age less gracefully than Garrod & Lofthouse. Edges, spine and flipback are similarly pristine. A REAL STUNNER! No writing to the rear, no staining, tears, splits or creases. A real treat. Both sides of the record labels are more of the same and must grade MINT-. The scans below show this. Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are graded EXCELLENT++, showing a couple of wispy, mega-light surface marks to Side 1 only, and playing NEAR MINT!! I repeat, this is the nicest copy of this record that you are likely to see. Mega-rare in this condition!
Of the fourteen tracks on "Please Please Me," eight were written by The Beatles, that is, Lennon and McCartney. One of the amazing facts about this album, especially by today's recording standards, is that ten of the fourteen tracks were recorded and completed in one day, on February 11, 1963 in a 15-hour session. This was more of a standard operational fact in the record business during this time, as the companies wanted to ensure the LP reached the teenage market as soon as possible, hopefully before the group died out. They didn't know it then, but this was certainly the last thing to worry about with The Beatles. But still, this album was a risk, because at the time of it's release, The Beatles had not yet had a number one hit. We can all credit George Martin for having the insight to believe in The Beatles. It is true however, that George Martin at this moment in time, believed that rock 'n' roll was a thing of the past, and would not last much longer. This is one of the reasons The Beatles included six songs written and previously recorded by others on this album.
