Description

**Rare** Talking Book Corporation 78 RPM children's record "I Am A Parrot" dated 1918, released 1919.
The Talking Book Corporation was set up by the chief recording engineer of the Columbia Phonograph Company (later Columbia Records), Victor Hugo Emerson. The company address was 358 Fifth Avenue, New York City (later, One W. 34th St. NYC).

4" shellac disk mounted on cardboard. Very good condition for its age, and considering the fact that it was designed for children's use. Please examine the pictures carefully – there is no material loss from the cardboard and it remains uncreased, though it is rubbed in several places around the edge. The shellac looks free from scratches (certainly there are none across the grooves), however I've never played the record (after 30 years in my collection!) so can't vouch for its sound quality or content. It presumably uses the text on the reverse, which includes a patriotic message in praise of General John J. Pershing, commander of the American Expeditionary Forces on the Western Front during World War I.
