Traffic Sound were formed by the brothers Jose and Freddy Rizo-Patron who came from the 1964 formed high school band Los Hang's Ten's, with vocalist Manuel Sanguinetti, and some ex-members from Los Mads, one of the first important Peruvian rock bands. Jean Pierre Magnet played sax and wind instruments, Willy Thorn keyboards, Willy Barclay bass and Lucho Nevares drums. The name of the band referred to a traffic light that was standing in their rehearsal room, moved in there after some wild night out! The band quickly became popular and had a strong sound, they released 3 singles on Mag Records, mostly covers from Doors, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Animals... but in different versions. They were sold out so quickly, so therefore they were compiled by their manager on a mini-LP called "A Bailar Go-Go". But it is their first intended LP, "Virgin" which is regarded as a masterpiece, and where they had developed their own style, with influences from the British 60's scene, and this time all with original compositions. This album and the group became very much in demand, and three different editions were printed. "Virgin" is one of the finest rock albums made in South America during the late 60's early 70's, and is regarded by many collectors among the best psychedelic LPs of all times. This time all songs were original compositions, all group efforts, and played with finesse, finally Traffic Sound had developed its own style. Influences from the British rock are evident in some compositions : “Virgin” (The Bee Gees) , “Tell the World I am Alive” (Led Zeppelin) , “Yellow Sea Days” (Pink Floyd) and a touch of The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Sky Pilot” on their song “A Place in Time Called You and Me ” (purposely presented backwards on the LP). "Virgin" made Traffic Sound the most popular group in Peru and the most requested in concerts. Later on this album became the number one priority among serious collectors of psychedelic recordings. This record has it all, from backwards parts to searing wah-wah fuzz leads to crazed English vocals!! For me, this album from Peru is one of the best Psychedelic LPs out of South-America and also one of the top psych rock albums of the world! A classic from start to finish!!

GOOD: Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

I aim to dispatch all items within 48 hours of receiving payment. It is recommended that you choose the insurance option for higher value items. As stated above I cannot be held responsible for any item(s) lost or damaged in the post that are not shipped via insured / registered mail.
