PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. CLEAN....ORIGINAL 1967 SECOND album, and nothing like their later popular country albums, this was 1967 Southern California, playing along flipped-out bands like Kaleidoscope. 'n these cats were stoned heads with a trippy throwback direction ...don't stop now boys, and they surely didn't, "RICOCHET" strikes the same goldrush vein as their first ....

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's second album is another minor masterpiece. From the opening bars of (ex-group member) Jackson Browne's "Shadow Dream Song," and the high spirits overflow the grooves of the record. The singing and playing are just as confident as their first Lp, and some of the songs, including the bluesy "Ooh Po Pe Do Girl" and the hook-laden "I'll Search The Sky" by David Hanna, and Copeland and Noonan's (the "Buy For Me The Rain" team) "Tide Of Love," is as solid as anything coming out of California in the late 60's. Even the kazoo-dominated "Coney Island Washboard" and "Happy Fat Annie," and the nostalgic 20's styled Jackson Browne-written "It's Raining Here In Long Beach" fit well into the mix, reflecting the full range of the band's influences. As to why this record never caught on, it could be the timing--released late in 1967, in the wake of Sergeant Pepper (which had its own music hall influences, albeit of the English variety, and covered with lots of psychedelic overdubbing) and the Summer of Love, it just wasn't what college kids starting their search for the Lost Chord were looking for. Maybe a washboad or two less would've helped, and a real drug song or two wouldn't have hurt, but these guys could play a jug-band number ahead of any drug anthem anytime. Their Truly Right" is pretty space-y in its production, though, but "The Teddy Bear's Picnic"-- being slightly(?) flipped out, was probably beyond most listeners. Anyone looking for a companion to The Byrds "Notorious Byrd Bros." or a precursor to Crazy Horse's "At Crooked Lake" need look no further.
