Description
From 1971, out of Allentown,Pa., comes The Together Sound Of Lehigh Valley on Red Barn Farm Records 83071 MONO. This ultra rare garage sampler LP features ten bands from the Allentown area. The Allentwon area is within the Lehigh Valley. The groups are as follows: Rebels doing Joy To The World, Justice doing Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?, Reflections Of Time doing Cinnamon Girl, Bitter End doing If You Want Somebody To Love You, Shadows doing Aimless Lady, Illusions doing Lucky In The Morning, Max Blatt doing If I Loved Another Woman, Sound Reaction doing It Don't Come Easy, Morpheus doing Where Is My Life, and Phusion doing The Hemophilia Song. The LP was recorded and produced at Red Barn Farm Studio by Pat Henry Sickafus, who made several 45s under the name of Pat Ferrell. 350 copies of this were pressed. It was done to benefit the Lehigh Valley Hemophilia Association. Mario Andretti was the chairman and is pictured on the rear cover with his car and in his racing gear! Dopey Duncan was the co-chairman. He was very famous in the 30s and 40s in the world of auto racing. Also pictured on the rear cover are the president and the executive director of the Hemophilia Association. Many years ago, when I contacted the president to find out about this record, he related the following story to me: He was only there to sign papers and checks and somehow some improprieties ocurred, which may have been due to the executive director. One of the results of what ocurred was that the vast majority of these LPs that were pressed disappeared! I've only had a handful of copies in 28 plus years of this ultra rare garage sampler! I grew up in the Lehigh Valley, and I never heard of this LP until I saw a copy. The Lehigh Valley was a breeding ground for great punk,psych and garage bands in the 60s and early 70s! This may be your only chance to get a copy of this LP at this late date! In case you're curious, Morpheus was elected the best band on the album and recorded a rare single later.
