Released by Tamla Motown in 1966, cat # TMG 564; this is “Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over)” / “Just AS Long As You Need Me” by The Four Tops.
This is a classic red/white demo with the release date of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />18 March 1966 in the centre of each label. Each label has a ring-mark which you can see in the pictures. The playing surfaces are visually in very good condition. Playing, the A-side is closer to excellent. The B-side starts with some crackle, but gets better rapidly and grades as a passable very good. The record comes in a plain white sleeve.
All of these Motown singles come from the same source – an original 60’s Top Rank DJ who started in the ballrooms and progressed to radio and record production in the 1970’s. The vast majority of the collection is mint or unplayed, but he clearly loved his Motown as most of the 60’s and early 70’s singles are generally in very good condition, but with a few notable exceptions!
