PLEASE READ: I'm a professional collector with a massive and growing personal collection which has started to outgrow my media room. In anticipation of Record Store Day's Black Friday Releases, and to make room for other new acquisitions, I am selling off some of my duplicates, many of which were purchased on eBay during the last 10 years. I am not a professional grader, buy I will do my best to give a thorough and accurate description. Bidding for all items begins at $6.99. You'll have a chance to pick up that rare item you've been looking for and you'll help me clear up some much needed shelf space.

Up for auction is my first copy of the 4x12" vinyl edition of The Richest Man In Babylon, released by Thievery Corporation on Eighteenth Street Lounge Music in 2002. I purchased this copy used from the original owner who took great care of the vinyl, but who had no idea how to package it for shipping, and I'll describe in detail later the damage this caused to the gatefold jacket. Several years later I paid top dollar for a brand new copy, and normally this would be the kind of album where I would want to have a duplicate for regular play, but I've found that this album is more cool than it is practical, at least for me. Whenever I'm alone and I want to hear this album, I always go for the CD (or my mp3 player). Those don't sound better, certainly not on my stereo, but I find 8 sides to be a lot to juggle when I just want to listen to it. There's no denying every Thievery Corp fan wants the vinyl albums, and my mint copies of The Richest Man In Babylon and The Cosmic Game make all my friends jealous when I pull them out (and when friends are over is about the only time I take them out, and that's the only reason I'm parting with it - also I really am running out of storage space and that's a factor here too, since I have my eye on some new vinyl coming out at the Record Store Day Black Friday event in a few weeks).
The Mirror Conspiracy was my introduction to Thievery Corporation, but this album made me a fan for life. The vinyl here is mint, and both the previous (original) owner and I took very good care of it. The inner sleeves are in excellent shape as well, with only the most minor denting to a few corners. The gatefold jacket however was the victim of poor packaging, and is a little worse of wear. First, there is some denting to the very top and bottom of the spine, although it would still look very good on the shelves (I store mine in flight cases since they're easier to move and store, but I never get to see them on display). There is a very light amount of shelfwear along the front and back covers (and it's not very noticeable). There are also small dents to the inside corners, most noticeable on the front. Additionally, there is some creasing along the top of the front cover (visible in one of the photos). All of that is very minor and entirely cosmetic. The real problem is the three-and-a-half-inch tears along the top of both sides of the gatefold jacket where the vinyl cut through, because it was shipped to me with the vinyl inside the jacket (and for the record that's a really bad idea). Luckily there was no visible (or audible) scratching to the vinyl as a result, and if you've been waiting a long time to find a copy you can afford, you will not be disappointed with this one.
Against my better judgment, I'm starting he bidding at $6.99 (which is crazy since it will likely cost me at least $10 dollars to ship this album due to the weight). If you ever wanted to get your hands on an excellent copy of this incredibly rare and out-of-print, highly sought-after and much-coveted 4x12" Thievery Corporation ESL classic, this is that opportunity.
I recommend international buyers wait for an invoice before paying. Also, if I overcharge on International Shipping I will refund the difference - I'm not trying to profit on shipping, I just want to make sure I get enough to cover the costs. Sometimes I am able to ship for almost half what I charge (I try to do this whenever possible, but it depends on how I package the items and the final weight/measurement of that package). If I do ship for less, the difference gets refunded immediately after shipping. Always.
Buyers will have 8 days to pay or contact me. I now offer combined shipping on multiple items, even if they are packaged separately (during an 8 day period), giving you a week to wait for other auction items to end. Tracking numbers will be provided on all domestic shipping. I strongly encourage you to contact me if you want/need to wait more than 8 days to pay. My thanks in advance to those with good communication and prompt payment, and I hope you enjoy the music!
