Description
H. THIEME
THEMES IN BEAT
BRULL CBW660
1973
A heavy slice of Germanic hybrid Funk integrating elements of Krautrock [demonstrated by severely raw fuzz guitar attacks and punishing percussive breakdowns] and the feverish organ styles and moody strings reminiscent of Peter Thomas & Klaus Weiss sessions.
This is Funk music no doubt, but not for the Funk crowd, too hard, too unhinged, and with the DIRTIEST drums on the planet, this record [featuring the prime cut hip hop friendly Dirty Drugs] gets the heads in a sweat. Check the clip below and hear for yourself, but hold onto something solid cos when that buzz flute kicks in, you're gonna drop to the floor!
There's too many filthy drum breaks on this record, across Trombone Talk, Carnaby Girl and a massive club cut Speeding which manages to fuse tough edgy Funk with a hard Latin rhythm to form a beast of a tune! Way Out provides a hefty dose of Soul too so there's a lot going on here but for my $$$ it doesnt get any heavier than Thiemes signature cut Dirty Drugs, the name giving away why this track has caught the attention of many Hip Hop and progressive Funk collectors.

Clean copies of this are harder to source so act fast, I've got few stock copies left.
Cover retains the typical golden gloss of the German/UK hybrid labels like Brull, Harmonic & Selected Sound & the vinyl is a beautiful VG+ no pops - skips - or nastiness!
