THE WHITE STRIPES - Elephant
Mega-Rare UK Promo Double LP (2003, cat# XLLP162)
One of the rarest of all White Stripes records, this Promo LP was issued to journalists in the UK (on vinyl only, in an edition of just 500 copies) in advance of the official release of the band's classic album Elephant. Needless to say, any copies which leaked out at the time were snapped up instantly, and within a month or two Record Collector Magazine was already valuing it at £125.00!!!
The Double LP is housed in a striking custom sleeve, plain red with minimal white text. The front cover simply gives the name of the band, while the back has the title of the album.
This copy was bought by me at the time it was released, played once only (so that I could tape the album and listen to it at my leisure a full fortnight before it actually came out!), and has been stored away safely in a plastic sleeve ever since. The condition of both sleeve and vinyl is therefore Near Mint, without any marks or blemishes whatsoever. (apologies for the blurry photo of the label!)
