Description

You are bidding on THE TEMPESTS THAT’S RIGHT – WALK ON BY.

This is on the obscure Akron label ASC4

Cover is VG+ ( name written on cover as seen in the photo)

Vinyl is a very glossy VG with light scuff marks and some light hairline scratches. There is a ½ inch scratch that can be felt that runs through the 3rd track on Side 1 as well as 2 small nicks . Play graded on a high end cartridge thru this area you will hear some light ticks ( not obtrusive and not highly audible)   . The rest of the album is loud and clean with minimal surface noise may be heard on the softer passages- again not obtrusive.

Liner notes on the the back of the album cover:

"Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast." (Beethoven - 1806).

This album has been carefully and expressly designed to accomplish this purpose. Since pre-historic times, man has been stirred by the primitive rhythms of the drums. In earlier ages, these rhythms drove the savage tribesmen into the frenzied revelry from which the modern dance was to evolve. Of course, with the passing of time, these basically primitive rhythms and dances have been cultivated and refined, until today they have attained that high level of perfection that man himself has attained. And so, today we can readily see the forbistrative evolution from the hysterical, barbarous dancing rites of the past to the contemporary frug, ski and monkey. Therefore with this thought in mind, we are proud to make this record available to you, the modified, refined musical connoisseur of today.

The Tempests have played around at the university of Western Ontario for the past two years. During this period of time, they have also managed to perform at many campus functions, in addition to devoting as much of their spare time as can reasonably be expected to the books. One of them has recently acquired, through no fault of his own, the degree of M.E.Sc.; two have somehow managed to attain M.B.A. degrees; and three are, by rather devious and questionable means, attempting to graduate in the near future.

These are the sounds of the Tempests. Play them through your 12-speed, multi-directional, variable resistance, twin impedence, double bass reflex high fidelity system and enjoy the unbelievable results of 20 centuries of musical evolution.

Don Waite: vocals, guitar
