  Although their third American album was patched together (in the usual British Invasion tradition) from a variety of sources, it's their best early R&B-oriented effort. Most of the Stones' early albums suffer from three or four very weak cuts; Now! is almost uniformly strong start-to-finish, the emphasis on some of their blackest material. The covers of "Down Home Girl," Bo Diddley's vibrating "Mona," Otis Redding's "Pain in My Heart," and Barbara Lynn's "Oh Baby" are all among the group's best R&B interpretations. The best gem is "Little Red Rooster," a pure blues with wonderful slide guitar from Brian Jones (and a number one single in Britain, although it was only an album track in the U.S.). As songwriters, Jagger and Richards are still struggling, but they come up with one of their first winners (and an American Top 20 hit) with the yearning, soulful "Heart of Stone."   (courtesy Allmusic)

CONDITION OF THE RECORD:

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, we grade ALL records under a strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight).

• WE GRADE SIDE 1 OF THE VINYL AS VG+. CAUTION>this side is NOT MINT or NEAR-MINT, but nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters).  NOTHING HERE, HOWEVER, AFFECTS THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE. The music comes through loud and clear!
• WE GRADE SIDE 2 OF THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++ to NEAR MINT- (NM-). Some LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions - and some light 'graying/sleeve scuffs' are seen (under a bright light); they DO NOT AFFECT PLAY.  The music comes through, here also, loud and clear.
• The record is pressed on a beautiful high quality, thick, inflexible vinyl, which is used for the first or very first early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, bright and rich in quality.
• The original luster is very much intact, the vinyl shines almost like new; some label hole scratches are noticed; both sides (please see pictures below).
