THE ROLLING STONES

“EL BANQUETE DE LOS MENDIGOS”

(BEGGAR’S BANQUET)

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original MONO London “ffrr” Records very first press released in Chile in 1969 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number LLC-38574, with machine etched matrix numbers XARL-8476-6A 3 1B in Side A, and XARL-8477-2A 3 8B in Side B, with green/black LONDON “ffrr” LABELS!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! For people who know this record, in Chile the very first press has green/black labels and second press, also original of 1969, has yellow/black labels!!! The HOLY GRAIL of “Beggar’s Banquet” worldwide with green or yellow labels!!!

“BEGGARS BANQUET” was originally released in 1968 but we had to wait some months to see this album released here in Chile in 1969 and like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER!!! And not only that, we also got in Chile an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! If you know this LP, the typical Chilean cover is made of 2 single sheets of thick paper or thin cardboard for front and back cover, kept all together for an outer plastic bag which’s part of the cover. But, in this copy the cover is made with a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle (faking a gatefold cover), with sheets of paper attached to the cardboard (partially glued in the mouth edge) for front and back covers, so 3 sides are open and kept together for a plastic bag!!! WOW!!! NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!! If you are a Rolling Stones fan and/or collector you already know this release is the HOLY GRAIL of the “Beggar’s Banquet” editions worldwide and this time I’m offering this MEGARARE record with a kind of cover NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!! In Chile, for some reason we don’t know, they decided to use the picture of the inside of original gatefold cover for front and back cover. That’s only fact makes this record one of the rarest editions released here in Chile and a MUST for the Rolling Stones collectors. In front cover is the title in Spanish only at top, the name of the band is in the middle and at bottom left corner is written “R.S.V.P” and at right corner is the London Records logo. In back cover it’s the London Records logo with catalog number at top right corner, information about Chilean companies at bottom left corner and the tracklist at the right side. About the tracklist, it’s written only in Spanish with no additional information and only 9 tracks are informed!!! Yes, in this MEGARARE PRESS, only in back cover, they omitted the song “Stray Cat Blues”, but in label is written and of course the song plays in the record!!! In labels the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters. So, yes Sirs, this is really one of those finds you don’t see so often, one of the original copies of this famous album released in Chile in 1969 with an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNIQUE PRINT ERRORS!!! An authentic original very first press of “Beggar’s Banquet” released in Chile, the HOLY GRAIL of “Beggar’s Banquet” released worldwide and by the very first time seen with a different kind of cover!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, complete, without writings, bends, creases or marks of any kind, the grade is “affected” because some past owner used tape to seal and protect all the edges, it has worked very well, but the tape is there affecting the look. The record is thick and it’s in VG- condition both sides, not so glossy but absolutely clean, with loads and loads of scuffs, hairlines and scratches of all sizes, sure this record was played many times and past owners didn’t take much care of it, but these old thick records were made to last and this copy is a very good example. Labels on both sides are in great NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is the best surprise, it’s in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with some constant crackles, mostly evident in the silent parts between the tracks and some occasional light clicks and pops, which of course don’t cause any major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, most of songs play in absolute EX or even EX+ condition. It’s a fact this record sounds much better than how it looks!!! Overall, sure this record isn’t for Minty minds or audiophiles, but this record is A MUST TO HAVE for all The Rolling Stones collectors, no matter the condition, not many times seen and this time you have the chance to own this MEGARARE CHILEAN VERY FIRST PRESS of “Beggar’s Banquet” with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, UNIQUE ERROR and by the very first time seen with this UNIQUE KIND OF COVER!!! And after more than 47 years and many plays this copy still retains a nice look, almost immaculate labels and a superb sound quality, loud, clear, with no distortions, no repetitions, it plays great from the beginning to the end, the sound quality won’t disappoint anyone!!! Maybe this record could need a professional vacuum cleaning. And, let me tell you again, if you like Mint copies, maybe this is not for you, but the level of rarity of this press and the great sound quality it keeps it makes this record A MUST TO HAVE!!! AMAZING FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
