Description
Offering is original owner’s rare, 1st Pressing (1964), LL 3402, London Label, “The Rolling Stones 12 X 5”, 12” LP, 33-1/3 RPM monaural (“mono”) black vinyl record. Recorded in England, the sound reproduction utilizes London Record’s trademark “Full Frequency Range Recording (“ffrr”)”. This 1st Pressing is unique in that (1) the vinyl record was “Made in England”: (2) the album cover / jacket was “Printed in U.S.A.” and (3) the original London “FFRR” brown paper inner bag / sleeve was “Made in Great Britain”. Hence, it is technically an “export”, vintage LP, which significantly adds to its collectability value. In addition, the inlay / back cover has a mis-spelled title track for Side 2 / B3 “Congradulations”.
Specific descriptions:
· Album Cover / Jacket – CONDITION: VERY GOOD. The front cover has retained nearly all its original, clear colors. It is a classic thick cardboard cover, does shows some aging / wear at top and bottom but does not distract from the overall appearance. Spine has minimal wear, is readable with no seam splits. Has two (2) very small flap rips at spine’s top and bottom (see photos nos. 17 & 19). Back cover / inlay has minimal age toning. There is one (1) marking in top right corner – “C” inside a partial circle.
· Vinyl – CONDITION: EXCELLENT. Seldom played, with very light wear, its vinyl playing surfaces are clean and very bright. Both sides have retained a nice gloss, with no scuffs or scratches. Has few, minimal hairline / non-feelable surface marks. The maroon and silver “London / ffrr” labels are pristine with no spindle wear, scratches, stains or discoloration.
· Record Sleeve – CONDITION: EXCELLENT. This original “London / ffrr”,(accompanied by the “ear” logo), brown paper inner sleeve is pristine, with no tears, creases, stains or folds. It is made of the best materials possible – polyethylene-lined paper, which is considered ideal for collectible, 1950’s – early 1960’s LP records. Per discogs.com, this London brown paper bag/ sleeve was used solely for this 1st Pressing LL 3402, U.S.A. release album.

Matrix / Runout (A, Stamped, version 1): ARL-6493-2A (see photo no.10)
Matrix / Runout (B, Stamped, version 1): ARL-6494-2A (see photo no.13).
(2) For this 1st Pressing LL 3402, these “export” LPs did not include the album’s title of the labels. Subsequent pressings did include the album’s title.
(3) As previously mentioned, the inlay / back cover had a mis-spelled title track for Side 2 / B3 “Congradulations”.
(4) Rim Text – LL 3402 shows “Made In England” on both labels. Subsequent pressings did not have this "Made In England" rim text.
(5) First Catalog Number (LL 3402) on album jacket. Second catalog number (LL 3402) on labels.
This album showcases The Rolling Stones’ early years evolution from blues to rock. The band transformed soul into guitar rock for the hits “It’s All Over Now” and “Time Is on My Side”, which became their first American Top Ten Single. In addition, “2120 South Michigan Avenue” is a catchy, memorable instrumental blues-rock jam, featuring Brian Jones on harmonica.
