I am not an expert on grading. I did show it to several record dealers and one pronounced it a VG+ and the other a VG. I am calling it a VG.
Plays through completely on both sides. Some scuffs, some minor popping with the music being well above the surface noise. No skips or other major problems. Early Suns had surface noise. If you aren't satisfied, send it back and I'll refund your money minus return shipping.
Labels are pretty clean. On the My God Is Real side there is a small stocking sticker with the number 43 as evident in the photo. This probably can be removed but I will leave that to the discretion of the buyer. To the left of the title there is a darker, rectangular area where it looks like there was a sticker, possibly a price sticker, but it has since fallen off. To me this doesn't detract in any way from the piece. There are several tiny places where white is showing through the label such as the middle of the S at the beginning of Sun. Again, nothing major but I want everyone to be able to make an informed decision as to their bids.
On the Softly and Tenderly side it is quite clean with some very minor flaking allowing some tiny spots of white to show through.
Matrix Markings are U-81-45 and U-82-45 with a small 72 etched in which I am told designates which pressing plant it came from..
Original 1953 pressing. Push marks are very evident.
This is not an easy record to find in any condition. Rare is a term that's thrown around on these listings all too frequently. I would place this old Gem in the Scarce category.
Don't want to sell it but I recently lost a substantial amount of money to a dealer in Traverse City, Michigan who collected the money, tried to pass off a record that was warped and another that WAS NOT an original then crawled back beneath his rock. The other records he just didn't send and kept the money so beware. He's been doing it for years. With school approaching I'm selling off a few items from my collection.
