released 1968 ~ REPRISE  RS 6279
  Original First U.S. STEREO Issue with Tri-Color Showboat labels

VINYL  EX :  Extremely black and shiny with a few very light surface marks.

COVER  EX- :   Small 1 inch center splits on bottom seam and spine. Top seam intact. Slight corner and seam wear. Moderate yellowing/discoloration (mostly on back.) Minor shelf & ring wear. Classic psychedelic lettering on front cover is quite striking.

Note : The Warner Seven Arts "W7" logo is seen on back cover/top right and mentioned on the back/bottom in the fine print, however the labels feature the older tri-color Reprise design with no mention of "Seven Arts". Also interesting is the inclusion on the back cover of a Mono # "R 6279" . The LP SOMETHING ELSE evidently was never issued in the U.S. in Mono even though it is mentioned here (white label promo Mono copies do exist.)

INNER SLEEVE : Original b&w Reprise with artist photos (inc. The Kinks.) Very cool.

LABELS : Very sharp,very clean. Classic three color with showboat.

BEAR'S NOTES : Another fabulous album by the Mighty KINKS. SOMETHING ELSE offers 13 songs including gems like "David Watts", "Lazy Old Sun" and "Waterloo Sunset".

A SIMPLE VINYL GRADING SYSTEM :

Mint: Sealed/Unplayed/Unopened/The Holy Grail/Not used on an opened item.
Mint minus (M-): New and Possibly Unplayed ; a rarely used grade at Bear's Wax.
Near Mint (NM): Like-new, with very little or no visible wear; very scarce & very collectible.
Near Mint minus (NM-): Almost like-new, a few slight signs of play or wear that are strictly cosmetic. Very nice.
Excellent (EX) aka Very Good plus-plus (VG++): A step above VG+, very clean, no serious flaws. Appears seldom spun. Nice.
Very Good plus (VG+): Above average LP; a few moderate surface marks or paper scuffs; minor surface noise. Not bad.
Very Good (VG) : An average used LP, several surface marks/maybe light scratches. Noisy but plays through, no skips. OK.
Very Good minus (VG-) : Reveals lots of wear & noise when viewed or spun but is not defective or warped. A bit rough.

Combined Shipping & Handling fees begin again with the 5th and 6th LPs. These will be shipped separately in a 2nd large mailer box.

Your item will be packaged with tender loving care by an old geezer who has been obsessed with vinyl since the early Sixties. All records are securely placed in nice new inner sleeves & new poly sleeves & then carefully packed inside thick cardboard mailers along with stiff cardboard inserts & sheets of bubble wrap to help provide as safe a delivery as possible.

All records are carefully sight-graded by someone who has looked at used records for 35 years. Play-grading upon request. Please keep in mind that used LPs from the '50s & '60s are very rarely, if ever, found in Mint condition & very seldom in actual Near Mint. Proper record grading involves skill, knowledge & honesty yet remains a very subjective science & depends upon the individual grader. Sound quality is quite simply in the ear of the listener.

Pictures shown in a bearswaxrecords listing are always of the actual item up for bid, not altered or left over from some other auction. More photos are available upon request.
