Back on December 12, 1980, The Clash released Sandinista!, one of the most ambitious records in the history of rock'n'roll...

Interesting title, and typically Clash, too. The Sandinista Rebels, communist rebels, overthrew the government in Nicaragua in 1979. And being the left-wing guys they were, The Clash adopted their name for their album as a badge of solidarity. The Clash put their money where their mouths were. When their record company complained that they couldn't sell the double London Calling album for the price The Clash demanded, The Clash made all kinds of personal financial concessions so it could happen.
Joe Strummer: Part II -- London Calling Sandinista was even worse for the label. It was a triple album. CBS, the label, wanted nothing to do with the hassle of manufacturing a triple album, until The Clash stepped forward and announced they would forego any royalties on the first 200,000 copies. This was really, really risky, considering that London Calling had only sold 180,000 to that point.

Anyways, back to the record, this is the rare Australian 12" released by Epic records, And here in Australia very very few of these were pressed as White label Promotional Lps....
