Description

This is a rare 100 record collection that you will not find in your local record shop.  This collection is cased in 20 gold leaf trimmed heavy boxed sets, each set containing 5 high quality vinyl 33 1/3 LP records pressed by Deutsche Grammophon, Philips, and Archiv Produkton.  Each record is protected in a double sleeve. This archive collection contains a history of classical music from Beethoven in the 1770’s up to Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin in the 20th Century.  Some of the best known orchestras and conductors perform on these classical LP’s.  You’ll hear music perfectly performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and more.  Famous conductors include Colin Davis, Herbert von Karajan, Karl Böhm, Bernard Haitink, Karl Richter, Rafael Kubelik, Seiji Ozawa, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Leonard Bernstein.  You will enjoy such classics as The Magic Flute, Requiem, The Creation, Symphonie Fantastique, Bolero, La Traviata, Handel’s Messiah, Carmen, Romeo and Juliet, and the Blue Danube.  I can send a Microsoft Word e-mail attachment showing the contents and details of each set and record.  Send me an e-mail request and I'll send the list out to you

Each boxed set includes a booklet listing the music, composers, historical background, and artists for that set.  The Beethoven set 2 contains a misprint in the booklet that lists the titles in the Beethoven set 1 instead of the titles in set 2.  That could be one of those misprints that make the collection even more valuable!  Set 1 includes the “Carnegie Hall: Looking Ahead” booklet containing a great historical background on Carnegie Hall.

I am the original owner of this classical library.  I purchased the collection in the 1970’s through an American Express purchase program.  Most sets in the collection include the original introductory letter from American Express highlighting the features of that set.  I cannot guarantee the condition of the records or allow for returns but the records and cases are in very good condition.  None of the records are warped.  I have played only a few of the records one or two times and the others have never been on a turntable since they were pressed.  The Deutsche Grammophon, Philips, and Archiv Produkton labels are known for their very high quality.
