THE BEST OF RENATA TEBALDI
SXL 6030 DECCA
VERY GOOD CONDITION
ONE OF QUITE A NUMBER OF INTERESTING CLASSICAL ALBUMS THAT I WILL BE LISTING.
All part of my late father's collection. He was fanatical about his records, treated them like precious relics.
Initially he had one of the first stereograms, two months salary in the late 1950s, switching to hi-fi separates in the 1960s - good middle of the road quality turntables, and he monitored the cartridge and stylus like a hawk.
He ceased to play records 20 years ago, with the onset of Parkinson's - for fear of damaging them. He restricted himself to radio and tape recorder.
All of these records have been handled and played with care, many will have been played no more than a handful of times, some of course considerably more, others but once or twice. All have been sitting quietly racked and unplayed for the past 20 years.
Please see photos for more detail.
A now superfluous inheritance . . . . hopefully of interest to someone.
One of several bundles of cassette tapes, vinyl record singles, EPs and LP albums.
EDIT - In response to several enquiries . . . . . . As I have tried to explain above, my late father treated his blessed record albums as objects of veneration, and they were played with the greatest of care on decent calibre turntables/cartridges. I have neither the time nor the patience to scrutinise every side of every one of some 300 EP/LP discs. All of those I have checked at random appear, as I expected, visually A1. The records listed individually have been checked individually, those in job lots I have checked maybe 10% of discs.
Dad developed Parkinson's, and after some time his hands started to tremor occasionally . . . . he once inadvertently 'bounced' the arm as it lowered onto a record. He binned the record and never played another vinyl album . . . . . That was 20+ years ago. He had been very proud of never having so much as touched a playing surface with a fingertip, let alone scratched a record.
I cannot guarantee that every surface is flawless, but I wouldn't expect to find any fingermarks let alone scratches - which is why I have described these as 'very good' . . . . and I refer to the discs themselves, not the covers. Of course they are not mint, they are not new, they have been played !
I have listed all these albums at what I hope is a reasonable price given my knowledge of how Dad looked after his collection for some 40 years of use, from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s.
QUESTIONS
Of course I’m always happy to answer any questions that you may have - honestly and to the best of my ability.
Please ask questions before bidding, not afterwards !
Please note, I am not in any sense an ‘expert’, ‘trader’ or ‘dealer’ . . . . just an average enthusiast who has collected too much stuff over the years.
My descriptions and photographs are hopefully blunt, ‘down to earth’ and realistic.
