Description
THE BEATLES:SGT.PEPPER 1967 MONO+PATENT RED/WHITE INNER+-1/-1 MATRIXES.EXCELLENT.
You are bidding on an excellent original Parlophone black and yellow first press copy of Sgt Pepper, WITH THE LESSER SPOTTED EXTRA DOT, with vinyl strictly graded as excellent.
The extra DOT, after IN, and before U.K. in the ‘Sold In The U.K. subject to retail price conditions…, which appears on Side 1 only, is an indication that’s it’s one of the very earliest pressings.
It also has the very earliest -1/-1 matrix numbers, thick vinyl, and unlike the re-pressings from 1969 onwards, no EMI boxes.
This copy looks like it’s had minimal use, has very few marks/hairlines, and with very little spindle wear, and as the pictures show, the vinyl is gleaming. It’s housed in the very earliest red/white inner sleeve, (tiny rip to opening - see photo), with ‘patents applied for’ (see photo), which was only printed on the first batch of printings.
The fully laminated gatefold cover is in very good condition, with some wear to the spine (see photos), but with very little feathering or scuffing, and no lifting of the laminate.
There are a few faint crackles and pops, but for a 54yr old record, it plays superbly, and is a clean mono sound.
Overall, I would describe this as near excellent, and a sound investment.
Post and packing quoted is GB only, and it will be securely packaged, sent Royal Mail 2nd class signed for.
