Description

 Rare 1966 South African first press 14-track mono LP of the Beatles’ Revolver (PMCJ7009), with XEX 606-1 matrix on Side 2 indicating the original 'Mix 11' of Tomorrow Never Knows, only otherwise on the first UK mono pressing.

The sleeve shows a light touch of ring-wear at the back ; small pen name in blue at the bottom left corner of the back. There is very minor laminate lift on the front cover. Overall a very solid copy with minimal defect ; a nice Vg.

The vinyl is unusual in that the matrix for side one is listed simply as 'XEX 605' where side two is listed as 'XEX 606-1' which, of course, is the version that was hastily withdrawn from sale for having Mix 11 of Tomorrow Never Knows instead of the more familiar Mix 8 found on the 'XEX 606-2' matrix pressings. Visually, it is in very very good condition, containing a great shine and immaculate label centres, and only exhibits the smallest of light hairlines under bright inspection. Overall, the vinyl is Vg+.

 

A great addition for Beatles collectors worldwide and a find in very respectable condition indeed considering its origin and age !!!
